Elizabeth Cotten - Freight Train (via peglegsam)

I was just listening to my copy  of this great Elizabeth Cotten album and remembering some of the inlay notes, describing how she played left-handed, but rather than restringing the guitar (and banjo as well I guess) she played with the strings upside down, so with her thumb on the higher strings and fingers on the lower ones. Which I guess creates a unique style that must be pretty hard to ape.You can see it in action in this video, around 1 minute in.

Having said that I did manage to work out a version of Boatman Dance which I might tab out at some time.
